Why we work across pillars, not silos

In the drylands, no challenge stands alone. A failed rainy season empties the boreholes, weakens the herds, empties the classrooms, and sharpens the competition for pasture that can tip into conflict. Solving one problem in isolation rarely holds.

That is why PACIDA delivers all five thematic pillars together, guided by the Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus: PACIDA works where crisis, poverty and conflict overlap. Rather than treating them separately, we integrate all three — meeting urgent needs, building long-term resilience, and sustaining peace at the same time.
